Snif engaged the eHouse team to design and build their inaugural Shopify storefront. Following the launch of the site, we continued to partner with Snif in a retainer capacity to focus on implementing continuous UX, design and development improvements. Continuing through 2023, this partnership has allowed Snif to drastically expand their breadth of product offerings via a performant and scalable Shopify site.
The collaboration between Snif and the eHouse team encompassed a comprehensive suite of services including visual design experience prototyping, custom theme development, Online Store 2.0 migration, and strategic consultation. The partnership focused on creating a dynamic and scalable online presence for Snif, integrating innovative solutions like TryNow for sampling, Smartrr for subscriptions, Klaviyo for email marketing, Junip for reviews, and Returnly for returns.

The Snif team realized their new storefront needed an overhaul to keep pace with their rapidly-expanding product line and highly-customized product launches. The storefront also needed to withstand customization capabilities at scale, an intricate product structure, and an unprecedented “try before you buy” functionality.
To accommodate rapidly changing business needs, the Snif team required extensive customization control over their themes. As such, every module developed required forward thinking in order to ensure it could be customized to meet future-state versions of each feature.
Additionally, our team needed to ensure the seamless integration of one of Snif’s signature brand value propositions: its “try before you buy” model. An integral part of what differentiates Snif is the ability to try your fragrance or candle in sample format before being charged for it. This experience creates a complex product structure that required each product to essentially be treated as a bundle, introducing challenges with fulfillment and implementing standard features.
We provided design, development, and strategic resources to support the rapid growth of Snif’s site, expanding its capabilities and features in line with the evolving business needs. Project highlights include:
Online Store 2.0 Migration — The original Snif theme was built prior to the introduction of sections everywhere. Once available, the team worked alongside pre-scheduled initiatives already established for the year to migrate the entirety of the Snif theme to Online Store 2.0 and afford them with further flexibility and control.
Highly Customized PDP Templates — Over time, the Snif team has launched several product collaborations with notable public figures, as well as milestone products that required differentiated experiences from the core product catalog. Each of these products had hyper-specific design and development requirements and resulted in customized PDP templates unique to each launch.
“Secret Menu” Minisite — If you can find it, we built a secret mini-site for the Snif team with exclusive, humorous, and extremely limited edition product launches for their hyper-attentive and loyal customers. The site is attached to the same Shopify theme but has an entirely different aesthetic for the elusive product drops.
Subscriptions Implementation — As the product line grew, and more customers were coming back to repeat purchases, we implemented a subscription experience on the PDP and Collection page and introduced a shoppable quick view.
Build Your Own Bundle — We designed and built a bundle builder to allow customers to select a number of different fragrances or candles to try or buy all at once, replacing pre-built bundles that the Snif team had traditionally used to provide this offering.
“Try Before You Buy” — As a part of the original build and continuous improvements, we worked with TryNow and Returnly to integrate this feature into their Shopify instance.
The migration to Online Store 2.0 successfully enhanced Snif's customizing capabilities while increasing opportunities to enrich the overall customer experience. Customized PDP templates equipped the Snif team to deliver unique experiences tailored to each product for exclusive product collaborations and milestone launches. The exclusive “Secret Menu” minisite designed for loyal customers strengthened customer engagement by showcasing limited-edition drops with a distinct aesthetic. The implementation of subscriptions allowed for a seamless repeat-purchase experience, while the introduction of a “Build Your Own Bundle” feature offered customers more choice and flexibility. These efforts collectively supported Snif’s growth and success, driving both customer satisfaction and sales.
